Join The Volunteer Family this November for the first annual Volunteer-a-thon! This one-of-a-kind event will unite nonprofit organizations nationwide with the caring individuals, families, and groups that want to support their communities by volunteering—and raise much needed funds in the process.
What is The Volunteer-a-thon?
The Volunteer-a-thon is a one-of-a-kind event taking place throughout November, a month that includes National Family Volunteer Day (Nov. 17th) and marks the start of the holiday season when people are particularly inclined to “give back.” Both a fundraiser and a “friend-raiser,” The Volunteer-a-thon will give you the opportunity to raise money for your programs and services, access to a strong, reliable volunteer base, and the chance to showcase the great work being done by your organization.
Participating nonprofits work with The Volunteer Family, a national organization that encourages, coordinates, and facilitates family volunteering, to develop projects that can take place throughout the month. You’ll be provided with all the tools necessary to make this a success: Template materials for recruiting volunteers; access to an online fundraising tool for your volunteers; and prizes for volunteers who raise the most money!
Individuals and groups will sign up with your organization to volunteer for projects of their choice. At the same time, they’ll fundraise in support of their efforts-- much in the same way as one would for a walk-a-thon or charity race. Half of the proceeds will go to your organization and half will go to The Volunteer Family to strengthen the national family volunteering network.
Why Should We Participate?
We understand that volunteers and donors of the lifeblood of nonprofit organizations. The Volunteer-a-thon is a great way to reach both groups, rallying them in support of community needs. For newer supporters, especially families, this will be the first step to developing long-term relationships with your organization.
